Orlik Golden Sliced

This delightful blend is composed of golden and full body Virginia tobaccos with a touch of Burley. A fine natural sweetness in both taste and aroma characterizes Orlik Golden Sliced. The cut is traditional Navy Cut Flake i. e. pressed tobacco and cut into thin slices. Rub the tobacco slices gently before filling your pipe. Made in Denmark.

Orlik Golden Sliced is a Virginia burley blend.  You will recognize it on the shelf by its unique art work of a picture of an English type judge with a long white wig smoking his pipe.  Inside the tin you will find that the tobacco is a medium brown color. It is pressed into flakes, then sliced.

It is quite easy to tear off sections to rubb out for packing.  This is the way I like to smoke Golden Sliced, but you may also  break off a hunk and simply put it in the pipe and you are ready to go.  The tobacco has a very pleasant tin aroma.  It reminds me of hay.  The tobacco sort of looks like hay as well.

When you char it you get a wonderful taste and smell of this fine blend.  It is what you immediately know is pure tobacco.  The moisture level in the tin is just right so it lights easily and stays lit.   The flavor never becomes bitter even down to the bottom of the bowl.   Golden Sliced is medium in strength and is very good without any aging.

I have tins that have been aged for five years and they are outstandingly smooth and mild.   There is even more good news about this blend.  It is an excellent value and is available in 50 gm and 100 gm tins.   I consider this to be one of the best buys around and a tobacco I buy repeatedly and always have available.

A fantastic VA for sure. The tin aroma is that of honey, apricot and cumin. This might sound strange, but it’s a great blend with lots of flavor. One of my Top 3 VAs. ****

I picked this up today based on the above review and thought it was a very enjoyable smoke. I am a new pipe smoker and I’m looking forward to trying out the other blends reviewed on this site.
