Cellaring Pipe Tobacco - Why and how to age or store tobacco

Cellaring pipe tobacco for the purposes of storage, aging, and insurance against blends going out of production, inflation in prices, and legislative restrictions on tobacco purchases is an important part of the hobby for me.

In this video I briefly discuss this aspect of enjoying pipe tobacco and provide a few tips on how to go about it.

    Eric,

Another great video blog! I was looking for just this sort of advice and plan on starting my stockpile, so this hit the mark.

    Thanks and good smoking,

Glad you found it useful. As I’ve said, there’s just no downside to it.

    Eric,
Very thought provoking & helpful video, the 1/2 pint canning jar is a great idea. Kudos!
Some of the guys in my Kansas City Pipe Club heat the glass jars to create a vacuum seal, do you? I guess it works well, I’ve been going to try it and now I know what size jars to use. Thanks!
    Keep up the good work!
    Ken

I keep several cases of those jars handy. They aren’t very expensive at all – a whole case is less than the price of a tin of tobacco. And I’ve had a lot of tins of tobacco go to waste because I didn’t jar them up.
